VMX 2027 in Orlando.

The VMX 2027 dates are January 16 to 20 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. This page covers what the week costs once labs and a hotel are in it, how many CE hours one person can claim against the thousand on the NAVC marketing page, and which deadlines close before Christmas.

Booked

VMX 2027 dates and venue

VMX Orlando 2027 is dated, priced and open for registration. The VMX conference 2027 edition returns to the same convention center it has used for years.

VMX 2027 runs January 16 to 20, Saturday to Wednesday, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, South Concourse. The NAVC runs it as an AAVSB RACE approved provider, ID 172, under the theme Off the Grid.

The program lists over 1,000 hours of CE across hundreds of simultaneous tracks, and 800 or more exhibitors in the expo hall. The hall opens at 12:45pm on January 16, at 9am on the 17th and 18th, and closes at 2pm on the 19th.

Registration is open from $250 for a veterinary professional. VMX Virtual runs January 16 to March 21, 2027 at $295, carrying 250 or more CE hours.

Two things are still unpublished as of September 2026. The NAVC calls $250 a limited time price without dating the deadline, and the student and resident rates exist as categories requiring documents at registration without published figures.

The conference runs five days and the expo hall runs four, closing at 2pm on Tuesday January 19. Wednesday January 20 carries sessions and workshops but no expo hall.

The number that matters

How many VMX 2027 CE hours can one person claim?

The NAVC publishes two figures: over 1,000 hours for the size of the program, which runs hundreds of tracks at the same time in the same building, and 43.5 hours as the ceiling on what a single attendee can put on a renewal. The 43.5 is on the NAVC's own CE credits page.

VMX 2027 badges as published by the NAVC in September 2026.

BadgeMaximum one person can claimWhat it costs
Full access, in person43.5 hours, live and virtual combined$250
VMX Virtual only51 hours of scheduled virtual CE$295
One day in person11 hoursNot published as of September 2026
Whole programOver 1,000 hours exist. No one attends themn/a

A 75 minute session is 1.5 credit hours, a 50 minute session is 1, a 25 minute session is 0.5. Hands-on workshops and masterclasses are credited by their actual length. Every hour is self-tracked by scanning your badge at the session door, and you can edit your record of participation until March 22.

The virtual cap is higher than the in person one. VMX Virtual carries 51 hours for $295 and no travel. The in person badge carries 7.5 fewer and includes the expo hall and the hands-on workshops.

On demand CE carries a quiz. Recorded sessions credit only after a five question quiz passed at 80 per cent, with unlimited retakes. Live virtual tracks credit as live CE if you watch them at the scheduled time, which matters where a board counts live and recorded hours against separate limits. What your state actually requires, state by state.

Money

VMX 2027 registration, tier by tier

VMX prices the badge by your role. NAVC membership carries no discount, so the only levers on price are the group bands and the early rate.

What the price table leaves out

  • The two packages have to be chosen at the moment you register. The NAVC states on its own page that neither can be added afterwards, so deferring the choice means going without them.
  • Group discounts start at six people: 20 per cent for six to nine, 30 per cent for ten to ninety-nine, 40 per cent for a hundred or more. A practice sending a vet, two technicians and a manager is two people short of the first band, and inviting two more is cheaper per head than sending four.
  • Hands-on workshops, masterclasses, Meet the Professor luncheons and the behind the scenes tours all carry their own fee and their own pre-registration, and the NAVC states that they routinely sell out early. Electives are booked at registration or not at all, and there is a workshop-only registration for people who cannot take the whole week.

Logistics

VMX 2027 hotels and walking distance

The Orange County Convention Center is large and VMX uses the South Concourse. The hotels below are close enough to walk, and every other hotel on the list runs a shuttle. Rates are the published VMX block rates.

The walkable VMX 2027 hotels. The full list carries around thirty more, from 1.2 to 3.1 miles out, all shuttle served.

The in person badge does not include recordings. On demand access sits inside VMX Virtual, which you can buy on its own or add through either package. Decide that at registration, because neither package can be added afterwards.

Straight answer

Who VMX Orlando is worth it for

VMX is the biggest veterinary meeting in the world.

Reasons to go to VMX

  • You want breadth. Small animal, exotics, large animal, nursing, practice management and professional development all run together, and VMX 2027 adds educational tracks in Spanish.
  • You are shopping. 800 or more exhibitors sit in one hall, so an equipment decision that has been open for months can be closed in an afternoon.
  • You are sending a team. The six person discount band is the lowest group threshold of any large meeting, and the CVPM and nursing tracks give the rest of the team a reason to be there.
  • You need hours and cannot leave the practice. VMX Virtual caps at 51 hours, which is higher than the in person badge.

Reasons to go to WVC instead

  • You learn with your hands. WVC Vegas 2027 is built around 55 or more hands-on labs at the Viticus Group's own education centers, under the name Western Veterinary Conference for most of its history. VMX runs workshops and masterclasses, and its program is built around the lecture hall and the expo.
  • Your calendar is clearer in late February than in mid January. Coming back from the holidays into a five day absence has to be made up somewhere, and WVC is six weeks later.

Reasons to go to neither

  • You are two hours short before a renewal. A state or regional VMA meeting closes that gap at a fraction of the cost per claimable hour, without travel.

Side by side

VMX or WVC

VMX 2027 and WVC Vegas 2027 are the two largest general veterinary meetings in the country and they run six weeks apart. Side by side, as each organizer publishes it.

VMX is cheaper to get into, publishes its CE ceiling, and has a remote option and a group band that starts at six people. WVC costs more at the door, gives students and active military a free badge, and runs 55 or more hands-on labs. The full WVC 2027 page covers both of its meetings, since the Viticus Group now runs one in Las Vegas and one in Nashville.

What changed between VMX 2026 and VMX 2027

The shape of the week, the venue, the 43.5 hour CE ceiling and the way sessions are credited all carry over from 2026.

  • The dates moved one day earlier. VMX 2026 ran January 17 to 21. VMX 2027 runs January 16 to 20, still Saturday to Wednesday.
  • Group pricing for six or more is new for 2027, at 20, 30 and 40 per cent.
  • Educational tracks in Spanish are new.
  • The virtual window is now stated as 60 days from opening day, January 16 to March 21, 2027, and it is priced at $295 on its own.

The charting does not take the week off.

Time out of the practice has to be made up somewhere, and records are usually where it lands.

About these figures

Every date, price and CE figure on this page was checked in September 2026 against navc.com. Several VMX pages there still carry 2026 in the browser tab and the page heading while the content underneath is 2027, so where the site disagreed with itself we went with the page carrying the January 16 to 20 program.

Confirm with the organizer before you book flights, and confirm your CE with your own board before you count on it. If you spot something wrong here, tell us at [email protected] and we will fix it.
